OEM Pre-amps / capacitor upgrade for older editors
Restore your OEM preamplifiers to peak operating condition.
Audio electronics are key in providing clear, clean sound to go along with a sharp picture image. When it comes repairing audio electronics, The Boston Connection goes beyond just getting the audio electronics working again by doing wholesale replacement of electrolytic capacitors in the audio path.
Why do we do this?
Many of the editors we service were built in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s which means the electronics in them are now 40 to 60 years old. The advances made in electronic component technology over the years has been enormous in both active components (transistors, integrated circuits) as well as passive components such as resistors and capacitors. All these components degrade to some extent over the years with electrolytic capacitors being the ones that degrade the most. Nearly half of the boards we repair can be restored to full operation simply by replacing an electrolytic capacitor or two. While many electrolytic capacitors may still function within their original specification after decades, The Boston Connection replaces all of the electrolytic capacitors on the pre-amp boards that we service to mitigate any short-term failures caused by electrolytic capacitors which may be on the verge of failure.
